Big Cats 24/7
Motion Graphics | Branding | Titles | Maps | Stings
When BBC Studios Natural History Unit set out to create Big Cats 24/7, they weren’t simply making another wildlife series. Filmed over six months in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, this ambitious 6×60’ landmark production follows lions, leopards and cheetahs around the clock, using cutting-edge camera technology to capture behaviours rarely seen before. It demanded a visual identity that felt as bold and immersive as the filmmaking itself.
We were brought on board to develop and style the series, crafting the graphics, branding, titles, visual effects and lower thirds. Our challenge was to reflect both the raw beauty of the Delta and the relentless rhythm of life across a full 24-hour cycle.
We built the title sequence from a rich collage of plates, textures and original footage, blending projection mapping, rotoscope techniques, and a mix of 2D and 3D animation to create a distinctive Okavango landscape that subtly shifts from day to night. The result is a living, breathing visual world — one that mirrors the constant movement and tension at the heart of the series.
Throughout the episodes, our graphic toolkit supports the storytelling without overpowering it: refined lower thirds, considered visual effects and cohesive branding that feel seamlessly embedded within the natural environment.
Big Cats 24/7 is a landmark series in contemporary natural history, and we’re proud to have shaped its visual voice. As wildlife storytelling continues to evolve, we’re excited to collaborate on future projects that push craft, technology and narrative even further.
