In this video John Cleese challenges some misconceptions about mistakes and introduces the thought-provoking idea that mistakes are a crucial part of the creative process.
Holey and Moley were commissioned to storyboard, design and animate this short film used as an ‘ice-breaker’ to take the fear out of making mistakes – which can stifle creativity and kill innovation. Originally a short corporate speech made by John Cleese, Holey and Moley’s challenge was to clean up the audio into a clean succinct featurette, and then use this voice over as a basis to build a short film.
The production required extensive 3D characterisation, and photomontage simulation to create the main characters. Special effects, a full score and various composting techniques were used to pull all the mediums together to create a distinct and memorable short film.
