Channel: Five
Client: Whitworth Media
Date: Spring 2019
In this Channel 5 series we found out what it takes to deliver anything, anywhere in the world, as quickly as possible! We went behind the scenes with the world’s biggest delivery company to find out how they deliver an extraordinary range and quantity of packages all over the planet. With half a million employees, 90,000 road vehicles, a fleet of planes and even their own airport, DHL makes on average five deliveries every second, somewhere on Earth.
Holey & Moley were commissioned to brand and style this landmark Channel 5 series; creating an evocative titles sequence which infused a tapestry of travel, technology, tracking, map design & the DHL brand.
A versatile map system was created for the series, responding to the huge challenge of ‘intimate scales of journey’ set amongst ‘inter-continental world travel’ – seamlessly blending the detail required to explain the logistics, transport modes and narratives for each of the series stories. This involved all kinds of raw data conversion to render topographic details, street views, boundaries, networks and even live flight chronology.
The series graphics also provided a styled template system for the programmes; evoking the live transfer of information, communication glitches, satellite feeds and digital tracking.
